Product Design: Cd/ iPod stereo & tutorial

Cd/iPod stereo design - BRGD brandon rampelt I’ve finally put it together and everything is in working order. And might I add that it looks and sounds great.  I put this together in my spare time using parts from the thrift store. (electronic parts and so on) I got my design inspiration from Jacob Jenson of Bang and Olufsen , and Dieter Rams products for Braun.

The Cd spins outside of the housing letting you see the player in action. On/Off switch at the top next to the volume control knob. There is also a auxiliary jack to the side letting you plug in your iPod. I’ve included an analogue clock to mimic the needle on a record player in the middle. Note that the antennae is merely an aesthetic choice, it serves no purpose as you cannot control radio signals, but it looks damn good.

I’ve included a brief tutorial page to show you how I did it. I created this as a magazine spread for a school project on do-it-yourself design and culture. Read and enjoy!

Awesome – love the aesthetic of the stereo – especially the chunky on-off switch at the top.

  2. Sheri says:

I agree with Julia. I love the analogue clock so that it looks like a record player! That is a clever idea.
